Shrek - Top Crop
Shrek 2 takes the lead as you can see from the list. In fact, the Shrek trilogy takes the first, fourth and fifth positions, all in the top 5 places. It is very impressive and in my opinion, Shrek the cake because the stories are really good and Gags were good. Of course, it helped a lot of 4 major stars were casted - Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas and Mike Myers. In fact, the Shrek trilogy, I enjoyed Shrek 2 the most, so I personally do not wonder that has made the best out of three.
3D compared to 2D
from the list below, we see that 3D movies take 15 of the spots, compared with 2D counterparts, which are only 5 seats. It appears from these statistics that the public favors the 3D animation to 2D animation. Even 2D/3D fusion shows a ghost: Stallion of the Cimarron and Treasure Planet does not seem to please them enough. It seems that the Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Tarzen only in the first 20 places due to their strong family-oriented stories and classic branding. The Simpsons Movie is basically used by a large fan base through his TV series. Barring such unique franchises, it seems that 3D will show a 2D beat any dan.Animation Studios seem to be repeating it feels like the amount of 2-D animated films produced had disappeared dramatically in recent years.
Strong story
This is probably not new to you, but I'll say it anyway. I think one of the most important factors that will drive an animated film will be a strong and compelling story. In fact I would go so far as to say that if you give up everything else, you have a great story! Each film in the list tells an interesting story (well almost) and they all are not good enough to make it to the top twenty.
Laughter, the Best Medicine
People love to laugh. They love to laugh at others. They love to laugh at themselves. They just like to laugh. Everything is a constant, I think Shrek takes three of top five places for Gags and original jokes. And do not forget the two maestros of comedy - Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy - who performed the voiceovers for Shrek and Donkey, respectively. How can you beat the deadly duo?
Strong Voiceover Cast
The fact that the star cast of voiceovers is a crowd-puller, especially when celebrities are well-liked and a great performer. Again, see the Shrek cast. With Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, as the film go wrong?
The importance of distinguishing characters in the show
This is just my theory, but I firmly believe that in addition to a strong storyline, animated films and should show recognizable characters. And when I say recognizable characters, I do not mean plain human characters. I mean monsters. I think the animals. I think super heroes. With characters who are more interesting than people, they are instantly more recognizable. Look at the list closely. Apart from several old 2D movies, which other movie had a cast that was just plain old people for their leadership? After the interesting and identifiable characters are sure to attract ticket sales because people want to pay to watch interesting characters in the animated film, rather than plain old human being! I need not remind you again what a flop Final Fantasy: Spirits Within, I have to
?My personal favorite
In case you were wondering, my personal favorites are Monster Inc, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Shrek 2 and Ice Age in that order. My reason? They all have strong and compelling story. And I put them in the order of how much I've enjoyed every single movie. I have to say that the Monster Inc gave me the best enjoyment factor!
Conclusion
So here is my recommended recipe for an animated film box office success:
1.Film must be done in 3D
2 She must have a compelling story
3 Inject lots of humor in the show
4 Get a strong throw to get your voiceover talent
5.Dizajn sign must be interesting and memorable
